About the Red Hat Internship 2026 hiring
This program is open for two roles this cycle: a Software Engineering Intern based in Pune or Bangalore, and a Software Quality Engineering Intern based in Pune. Both are part of the company’s global internship cohort, where interns work on real projects alongside a senior mentor rather than on busywork.

Red Hat Internship 2026 – Role 1: Software Engineering Intern (R-058560)
Based in Pune – Tower 6 or Bangalore – Carina, this intern works closely with a mentor to design, develop and maintain code in Python, Golang or a similar language, adding features and debugging issues in products like RHEL and OpenShift.
- Design, develop and maintain code alongside a senior engineering mentor.
- Add features, debug and track issues in RHEL, OpenShift and other core products.
- Collaborate with QE, design, product management and documentation teams.
Red Hat Internship 2026 – Role 2: Software Quality Engineering Intern (R-058640)
Based only in Pune – Tower 6, this intern focuses on testing – researching new features, designing test cases, and running manual and automated tests.
- Research new features and design test cases for them.
- Execute manual and automated tests, reporting status in a timely manner.
- Identify and document bugs, and communicate customer impact to developers and support.
Red Hat Internship 2026 – eligibility criteria
Both roles share the same eligibility bar:
- Currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or an equivalent discipline.
- Basic knowledge of and willingness to use Python, Golang or a similar programming language.
- Working knowledge of written and spoken English.
- No current or future need for visa sponsorship – visas are not sponsored for this position.
- Curiosity, ownership, and willingness to work as part of a wider, international team.
Preparation tips
